Future athlete on our hands???

We spent the majority of our summer driving Mackenzie to BASKETBALL camp and games.  She really enjoys the game and made a lot of good friends.  It has been a very positive experience for her.  Basketball is a winter sport so she was going to play off season in the fall until season started.  This was a plus because it would keep her out of general PE.  Then she decided to add something else....

We only spent one week of our summer driving Mackenzie to VOLLEYBALL camp.  She had not played much before, but she decided that she wanted to try out for the high school volleyball team.  The positive is that she is tall and self motivated, the negative is she has little experience and was competing against girls coming from club volleyball teams.  About 30 girls tried out and there were 14 spots available.  Well guess who got one of those spots???  You guessed it Mackenzie :o)!!  We were so proud of her..she really put in her best effort at try outs.

So I guess you know were you can find us this fall....games, games and more games.  Let the fun begin (sarcastic)!

Mr. and Mrs. Smith

On Saturday, August 14, 2010 our oldest niece married her prince charming Derek!  It was a cold and misty morning at the San Diego Temple, but since the reception was so far inland at the Madera Country Club the weather was perfect for the reception.  It was a beautiful day to see sweet Becca marry such a wonderful man who loves and adores her.  It was hard to believe this is the same girl who would sit and watch Bonanza with Ryan and dance on the table as a toddler.  We are so happy she was able to find a perfect match for her!

Derek and Becca's Rehearsal Dinner

Our oldest niece Becca met the man of her dreams!  He is a handsome aspiring Podiatrist that she met at BYU Idaho.  After dating for a very long time (in Mormon time) Derek finally realized that she was the girl of his dreams and asked her to become his wife!  So two months later they were getting married!  Ironically his last name is "Smith".  Smith was Grandma Jones' (Sharon) maiden name before she became a "Jones". So you can literally say we are from the "Smith/Jones" Family.  Another ironic thing is that Derek's mom's maiden name is Mackenzie.  So funny how we all interconnect.

Anyway, back to the beautiful couple!

On Friday, August 13th Becca and Derek's rehersal dinner was at Madera Country Club.  The chef grilled up some yummy kobe burgers and onion rings.  It was truly a delicious feast!

After dinner all who attended got to introduce themselves, share how they are related to the bride or groom and a story/memory about them.  It was a wonderful night full of laughter and tears.

The Big 4-0 Surprise!!

Happy 40th birthday Ryan!  You are a wonderful husband, father and friend.  You have gotten better looking as the years have gone by and still have a rockin' body!  Forty looks good on you!

For Ryan's 40th I invited some friends to a small SURPRISE dinner at Ichibiri's.  As we walked up to the Teppan table there was no one there and Ryan thought that the couple we were meeting there were late.  He was so surprised when eight adults (who were hiding under the table) suddenly stood up and yelled SURPRISE!!!  The whole restaurant was joining in the celebration.

We are so thankful to have such great friends.
After dinner we went to the theater and tried to see "Inception", but it was sold out so we headed over to a friends house to watch a movie instead. Guess we will have to plan another date to see "Inception".
 Happy Birthday Ryan!

Trevor's Baptism July 31, 2010

On July 31, 2010 Trevor Ryan Jones was baptised and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at the Mission Viejo Stake Center.  He was baptised and confirmed by
his father Ryan Neill Jones.

It was a nice program:
Opening Song- Baptims
Baptism talk: Danielle Jones
Special Musical number:  "I Know that my Savior Loves Me" sung by Kelsey Frost and her Dad
Holy Ghost talk- Jessica Hazen

Trevor was all smiles during the evening.  He was so excited to be baptised.  At his young age he has a testimony that he is a Child of God and that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love him and know him.  He has a strong and very personal testimony of the priesthood and how it has already blessed his life.  He is very tenderhearted and sensitive to the Spirit at the young age of eight. After his baptism he says "Mom I feel different...it is a good different!"
Here is Trevor and Ryan before the baptism all dressed in white:
Here are all the family members who were able to attend Trevor's baptism. We are so grateful to be part of such a wonderful and supportive family.  Grandpa Wright is in the picture (blocked by Grandpa Jones) and Aunt Deeanna is taking the picture.

Trevor's birthday celebrations

On Trevor's actual birthday (the 29th) I had to work and Mackenzie had a basketball game at Westminster High School so we had to make due with a mini celebration.  Before I went to work I bought him donuts for breakfast (an Old-fashion and chocolate bar with chocolate milk).  He said "this is the best birthday breakfast ever!"

After the basketball game Trevor decided he wanted to go to Claim Jumper for dinner because he wanted their yummy desserts.  He wanted an Ideclare.  Grandpa and Grandma Wright joined us for dinner.
