Big Orange Balloon

Standing infront of the balloon before we take a ride

Here it is in the air at 10,000 feet elevation

Madalyn and I taking in the sights!

This is our "after" shot!

Here we are loading the hot air balloon.

So, as many of you know, the Irvine Company is building this "Great Park" for the community to enjoy for many years to come on the old El Toro Marine base. We have been reading about the "Big Orange Balloon" - that is the first attraction at the park. By first I mean that there is absolutely nothing else to do there (unless you want to check out the hundreds of motorhomes being stored on the base!). Since the rides are free until the first of the year we took advantage of the great deal. It was a fun experience to say that we "did it", but I would have to say that I am glad that we did not spend $20 a person to ride!

After we went to the Spectrum for some lunch at Cheesecake Factory-yum, shopping, and some fun playtime in the fountains! Then we ran home to take a dip in the pool. A fun day for the last day of summer as school officially begins tomorrow....so I guess I better go and start on all those lunches!

I was wondering what that balloon was for. I work in Irvine, so I see it every day. That is cool that you guys did that. Sounds like you had a nice labor day! :)

ok, so i have to ride the big orange balloon. when i was in my early college years, i once said that i wanted to be proposed to by my future husband in a hot air balloon!! but, a gazebo in laguna beach was just as nice!! so, i'm thinking that mark & i should take a ride and do a re-enactment!! although i'd have to find that mexican guitar player because mark paid him $20 to play love songs in the gazebo for us... and he stole the show!! oh and it did get recorded by some tourists from china who spoke 0 English but loved filming the entire proposal for us... too bad we couldn't communicate enough to get a copy!! might be tough trying to find them too :) lol.
