The Great Park aka Rock Adventure

Over Spring Break Meredith's homework was to decorate a "pet rock" and take it on an adventure.  When she went back to school she would write about the adventure.  Well, we did lots of fun things over Spring break..beach, Los Angeles, Petersen Auto Museum, etc.  However each time we went somewhere we forgot "the rock".  So the Saturday before Spring Break was over we drove over to the Great Park in Irvine for our "adventure".  We had been there years ago when the big orange balloon first opened.

We had a great time!  Everything was free...the playground, a ride in the balloon, carousel, agricultural farm and art museum. For you teenagers out there this is a FABULOUS and FREE date night!!!

A Quiet Easter

Easter Sunday was a nice quiet day with just our family.  The usual tradition is to get together with Danielle's side of the family for our annual egg hunt and dinner.  The kids look forward to the egg hunt every year!  However our church time this year was 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. so we were unable to attend since everyone was getting together at 2 p.m.  So we improvised and had our own egg hunt before church.  The kids loved the time together and we all loved being able to go to church that day and not rush out the door!  Mackenzie and Danielle sing in the choir which is always a highlight since we LOVE music in our house!

When the kiddos first got up they got their Easter baskets:

Meredith got an Angels t-shirt

Trevor got a baseball bag

Mackenzie got new slippers and tennis shoes

Madalyn got a book, slippers and shoes

Then we had our Easter egg hunt...thanks to Grandma for all her filled eggs!  The kids LOVE the ones with money!

After church Rodney, Randy, Cathy, Rachel and Dallin came over for Easter dinner.  It was very low key and delicious! We were thankful to be able to get together with them for Easter!  

Coffee and Cars

Trevor is obsessed with all things cars...the make, the model, the quality, etc.  My Dad is also very into cars.  Since my Dad was coming into town for a few weeks I mentioned going to a car show.  Tyler told him about "Coffee and Cars".  It is held early morning every Saturday in Irvine.  Sounded fun so we went and checked it out.  There were all sorts of cars there..hundreds!!  It was fun to walk around and look at all the well taken care of, restored and tricked out cars.

Meredith has an obsession with wanting Mackenzie's best friend Matthew as a brother.  So she asked him to take a picture with her.  It is pretty cute...with his blonde hair and blue eyes we could adopt him and he would fit right in.  Too bad his eyes are closed in this picture ;).

BYU vs. UCI Baseball

Trevor's baseball team this year is the UCI Anteaters.  Ryan had some connections with the coaches from the team and was able to get Trevor's team and their families into a baseball game for free.  Since half of our team goes to church with us we choose the game against BYU (UCI doe not need to know who we were really cheering for)!  

 Just before the game began UCI brought the boys to the locker room and dugout on the UCI side.  Then they were each assigned a player to run out with as their name was called.  Trevor was excited to be assigned to the pitcher.  They stood out on the field with the UCI players for the Star Spangled Banner then ran back into the dugout.  It was a great experience for these boys to get time on the field!

Between innings Trevor was selected to "steal the bases".  He had to steal first base in a certain amount of time in order to win.  He won!!! The prize...free meal to Souplantation ...we all got a good laugh!

By the way....BYU WON!!!  We got to meet the BYU players afterwards.  The BYU pitching coach, Wally Richie, use to go to church with us so he hooked us up with the players.  Great night!

Hunger Games Premier

Yes, four of us in our family read the Hunger Games series about a year and a half ago and LOVED it!!!  We were so excited when it was announced that a movie would be created from the books.  So needless to say we sent Trevor and Meredith off to Grandma and Grandpa Wrights so we could go to the midnight premier at the Kalidescope.  

The wait in line was lots of fun!  The Piano Derby was playing good music, the weather was nice and the people were all so friendly!

The movie was great!  It was a long movie...by the time I took all the teenage friends home it was almost 3:00 a.m.!!!  That is way to late (or early) for an old lady like me :)!  

Meredith's Spring Concert

Meredith had her 2nd grade Spring Concert in March.  She loves music and loves to perform!  She did a great job singing!  

St Patricks Day

Every year since I was a little girl  I eat corned beef and cabbage with my Grandma Dickison.  Today she came over to my house and we had a wonderful feast!  I love this time with my family!
